Dealer Notes

This Challenger SXT with an automatic 5 speed and 3.6L engine isn't going to require your kids college funds to pay for gas, the EPA estimated highway is 27mpg... your kids will thank you for that, while they dream of "borrowing" this pretty retro design for their prom... ain't that nice. Kids huh? Maybe you can teach them how you like your new car detailed? Compared to the Mustang and revived Camaro, the Challenger is bigger and heavier but offers far better rear passenger space, a smoother ride, a more serene cabin, and plenty of modern conveniences, including Blue Tooth, navigation and iPod connectivity. On the outside, the Challenger's large proportions and sinister retro styling give it street presence that Ford and Chevy simply can't match. One could argue that this is the same niche that the Challenger filled more than 35 years ago. There are basically two ways to assess the Challenger: You can view it as an homage to classic muscle cars, or you can compare it to other contemporary coupes. Either way, this two-door behemoth generally hits the spot. Pugnacious yet practical, rowdy yet refined, the Challenger possesses a surprisingly diverse skill set. Its sheet metal may be unabashedly retro, but the Challenger has a lot more to offer than just nostalgia; of course, you might just be drawn to the Challenger simply because you miss laying patches in your high school parking lot. Whereas its competition in the retro 1970 look musclecars have tight backseats and firm rides, the larger, softer Challenger will cosset four adult passengers like a luxury sedan. The SXT comes standard with the V6 engine, 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and ignition, full power accessories, cruise control, automatic climate control, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, a six-way power driver seat (with power lumbar adjustment), a 60/40-split-folding rear seat, a trip computer and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player and an auxiliary audio jack. Not mentioned in the window sheet are the visors pull out wings to cover the area around the rear view mirror. Those are great around sunrise and sunset. The backseat also features a fold-down armrest and a split-folding back. Every 2013 Dodge Challenger comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, active front head restraints, front side airbags and side curtain airbags. The front seats in most Challengers are wide and flat, exceptionally comfy for long-distance drives. The rear seats are surprisingly roomy for two adults, with good headroom and decent legroom. The backseat also features a 60/40 split-folding back, a fold-down armrest and a middle seat for tiny/good-natured folks. At 16.2 cubic feet, the Challenger's trunk is positively enormous for this segment and bigger than those of many midsize sedans At 16.2 cubic feet, the Challenger's trunk boasts impressive cargo capacity for this size car segment. The front seats in most Challengers are wide, flat, and comfy for long-distance drives. The backseat is remarkably roomy for two adults, with good headroom and decent legroom. One of the Challenger's signature traits is its excellent ride quality. You could drive this big coupe all day and feel as if you never left your sofa. Every Challenger comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, active front head restraints, front side airbags and side curtain airbags. The R/T gets a V8 engine, a rear spoiler, a 3.06 rear axle ratio, performance-tuned suspension/steering/brakes and steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles, with 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlamps, foglamps, heated mirrors, a USB/iPod interface, satellite radio and Bluetooth connectivity/streaming audio. The R/T Plus package adds the rest of the features of the SXT Plus package that aren't already standard. The R/T comes with the Super Sport group's performance-tuned suspension, which buttons down the ride and brings with it more responsive steering and brakes. The Challenger R/T gets a 5.7-liter V8 that when paired with the available five-speed automatic, outputs 372 hp and 400 lb-ft. In Edmunds testing the Challenger R/T went from zero to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds The Challenger SRT8 392 gets all the R/T's basic equipment, but adds a larger V8 engine, xenon headlamps, unique 20-inch wheels, sport seats, an upgraded trip computer with real-time performance data, hydraulic power steering (versus electrohydraulic), upgraded brakes and suspension and a one-day driver training course at the SRT Track Experience. Optional for the SRT8 are a navigation system and a premium 18-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Buyer to verify all equipment stated for accuracy before purchase. Second key, floor mats, and owners manual may not be available on all pre-owned vehicles. Not responsible for typos.

  • The most awesome car in my 40 years of driving.

My 2014 Challenger R/T is a great combination of looks, performance, features, and comfort. The retro exterior styling was a must for me. The performance was nearly a must and it does not disappoint. The modern features are wonderful. The car is very comfortable (and fun) to drive.
  • 2008 SRT8 - Get in and hold on

I really love this car - it's a head turner. I bought mine used with 1200 miles, saving over $11k in the process (due mainly to public demand and the subsequent dealer mark-up). I'm happy to see that since buying last July (2009) that I am still well in the black on this car. I have modded mine but maintained every little part (down to valve caps and bulbs) so that a future purist may easily return this numbered first edition car to factory stock. I agree with some of the reviews here that the Ram's heads do not belong on the car (made for the trucks IMHO) and I have replaced all mine with nostalgic Challenger logos (except for the steering wheel - haven't quite figured out how to get around that one with the airbag). The interior was kind of bland but (additional) carbon fiber and some well placed billet accents have brought it to life. The trunk is MASSIVE. The only negative things I could say about the car are: (1) The huge blind spot created by the large C pillars - I can deal with this though because I feel that the C pillars are necessary for that nostalgic look and you get used to it. (2) The body has minor factory blemishes that could've been worked out better. (3) Many of the mods I made should've been factory options or standard - this really isn't a bad thing as they make my car unique amongst 3rd gen Challengers. (4) Too many of these became trailer queens - get out and drive the car fools!! Other than that, Dodge has nailed it! You Camaro owners can continue to eat your hearts out! (I'd say the same for the Mustang but it is the only Ford I am fond of - remember, the Challenger and Camaro went away for many years, the Mustang simply evolved). I could go on forever but go test drive one, you'll see.
  • My favorite vehicle Ive ever owned

Ive owned nothing but Ford products my entire life, I have owned 3 Mustangs and decided to make the jump to a more roomy Muscle car style vehicle. I thought I was going to compromise the performance by going with a roomier and heavier car.....I was wrong. My Scat Pack Challenger is everything I could ever want. Lots of attention, beautiful car, very comfortable, sounds incredible and has extremely good performance. I wont buy another 2 door coupe out there if this car is available. I just wish I had bought the Hellcat model. Other than that....my favorite vehicle ive ever owned. I love it!!
