Dealer Notes

The Compass starts out with a 2-liter four cylinder engine with 158 horsepower and your choice of five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Certain models carry a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). A 172-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder is available on most front-drive version and is mandatory with all-wheel drive. There are two such systems that can go into any Compass model. Freedom Drive I is an all-wheel drive setup designed for on-road useit's similar to what you would find on other passenger-oriented crossovers. Freedom Drive II provides genuine off-road prowess thanks to a host of extra equipment: all-terrain tires, skid plates, hill start and descent assist, and a specially tuned CVT with crawl control. The five trim levels differ mainly in comfort and convenience features Sport: The price leader of the group comes standard with foglamps, roof rails, air conditioning, cruise control, and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player. Note that power windows and locks require the Power Value Group, which also adds heated mirrors, keyless entry, and body-color exterior trim. The Sport rolls on 16-inch alloy wheels, or 17s if you opt for the 2.4-liter engine. Altitude: Enhances the Sport with 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels, a standard automatic transmission, black exterior trim, heated front seats in sport mesh upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. You still need to order the Power Value Group to get power windows and locks. Note that front-drive Altitude models come only with the 2-liter engine and the CVT, while all-wheel drive models get the six-speed automatic. Latitude: Gets the six-speed automatic and Power Value Group as standard, and then adds heated seats, a bright mesh grille, extra chrome trim inside and out, a folding passenger seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The available Security and Cargo Convenience package adds an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a driver information display, and a vehicle alarm system. You can also get a Sun and Sound package with a sunroof and a nine-speaker Boston Acoustics audio system with flip-down tailgate speakers and satellite radio. A navigation system with integrated audio storage is a standalone option. High Altitude: Builds on the basic Latitude with standard 17-inch wheels, leather upholstery, a power driver seat, and a sunroof. (Note that the Latitude's option packages are not available here.) As with the Altitude, the High Altitude comes only with the 2-liter engine and CVT in front-drive form. Limited: Your top choice in a new Compass carries the 2.4-liter engine as standard along with a bundle of handy upgrades: automatic climate control, a rearview camera, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a touchscreen interface, a six-CD changer, and satellite radio. The Limited can get an expanded version of the Security and Cargo Convenience package with remote start, a USB port, and Bluetooth phone and audio. The Sun and Sound package and navigation system continue as options. Buyer to verify all equipment stated for accuracy before purchase. Second key, floor mats, and owners manual may not be available on all pre-owned vehicles. Not responsible for typos.

  • Love it! Perfect First Car

By Brian on Friday, December 01, 2017

I got my 2016 Jeep Compass in April last year and have loved it ever since. It may not be a mustang, camaro, or a Big Bad Wrangler, but it still is great. I had never heard of the car till we went to look at it. Its almost a year later are we put in an aftermarket radio and subs and now its popin. Plus people just love it because it has the jeep name. I can be your jeep with out the Jeep price.
  • Long trips, short trips and plenty of snow...

My wife and I are first owners on this jeep. Swore yrs. ago to never own one as aside from off-road, all I knew who had 'em, swore at 'em for being so unreliable, but stopped at a Jeep, Dodge, and Ford dealership on the way to check out Kia for a new Sportage as ours was 11 yrs. old at the time. Took out a Latitude with the CVT and after hearing a perpetual trans. sound, drove back to the dealer with no intent of even trying another. My wife spotted a Compass Sport with the 2.0 liter 5-speed stick shift in the lot and she loves driving stick shift so off we went again. The difference was stunning! This Jeep was dead quiet, moved out easily with the standard tranny and was several thousand less then the Latitude. Walked away from it, but within a couple days after testing Honda CR-V and Toyota Rav4...went back to dealer to test again. In short time, we decided this was the best bet. It's been extremely reliable, though FWD, it's been through blizzards, ice, etc. and has gotten us through it all while feeling stable and safe in doing so. Average in Summer is 31-33 and in Winter 29-31. Use Synthetic oil, have changed tires and had front brakes re-done around 50 K. The seats and fabric are both comfortable and "soft touch" , heater comes on strong in Winter and Same goes for AC on my trips to TX and 110 degree days. One of the smoothest transmissions much to the enjoyment of my wife. Lastly, as days get shorter in Winter, have nothing but praise for the excellent headlights as well as the fog lights...this is something few take into consideration, but our Compass we feel is exceptional in this regard.
  • Reliable do it all Jeep

By Willjammer on Saturday, April 13, 2019

I really enjoy my 2015 Jeep Compass Sport. It is approaching 80,000 mi and has been very reliable. Just regular oil changes, new spark plugs, tires and a Crankshaft sensor that's it. Still on the original brake pads and rotors. The all-wheel drive has gotten me through every Chicago winter with ease. Roomy cabin and very easy to use vehicle controls, very cold A/C. My only complaint is the limited range on the 13 gallon tank. Would purchase again.
